Laura DeVaughn Goodson, a Director in our Jackson, Mississippi office, has been actively involved in the defense of toxic tort and product liability claims a little more than a decade. Since 2009, she has actively participated as part of the local trial counsel team defending asbestos personal injury actions for a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest chemical companies. In that role, she has seen a number of cases through to verdict; boasting, along with the team, several defense wins in some of the nation’s most volatile and plaintiff-friendly jurisdiction. Goodson is also a member of the firm’s appellate practice group, with a record that reflects participation in a number of successful appeals for asbestos clients before the Mississippi Supreme Court including a decision by the Mississippi Supreme Court vacating a $322 million verdict – the “Largest Single-Plaintiff Asbestos Award in U.S. History.”
